Full course description

Did you know that the Asian gypsy moth is a pest of over 500 species of trees and shrubs, including oaks?  This pest in particular poses a higher risk than related moths because the females can fly! As a result, the spread of the pest could be much faster than others.  The False codling moth is another pest that has a wide range of hosts, and is a pest of economic importance in its native habitat of Africa. It is frequently intercepted in both cargo and passenger luggage. This is a major concern, since it could easily become established in the United States. The learning objectives are to understand the following information regarding the pests:

·         Hosts

·         Distribution

·         Damage

·         Life Cycle

·         Identification

·         Monitoring

·         Control

·         Sample Submission
